Electrical Team Lead

Overview Hydroelectric Engineering Group in Montreal is looking for a Team Lead, Electrical, to lead our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for mentoring and guiding staff in their training and career development journey and delivering the financial and strategic goals of your team. You will direct work activities, make assignments and coordinate the group's activities. Your team will rely on your depth of experience to resolve some of the most challenging problems that arise. You and your team will be responsible for the execution of projects ranging in size and complexity, with a focus on hydroelectric projects. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and maintaining new and existing clients, coordinating skill‑sets with other offices and disciplines, and satisfying customer requirements. Responsibilities As a leader and under limited supervision, the selected individual will both drive the design process and oversee junior engineers in the following capacities: Direct and supervise in conceptual, front end and detailed engineering for balance of plant systems, such as Generator output systems including IPB's, GSU transformers, Station service AC/DC power distribution, motor controls, grounding, LV building services systems, MV/LV cable & cable tray systems. Manage a team (local and remote) of EITs, electrical engineers and design technicians in accordance with AtkinsRéalis guidelines including administration, performance evaluation and training. Ensure the projects are implemented as per AtkinsRéalis' Engineering Service Quality Assurance Guidelines and Project Delivery Guidelines. Prepare proposals for electrical engineering projects. Collaborate with peers, mentor junior engineers, and liaise with other disciplines to uphold utility Standards, industry best practices and AtkinsRealis policies. Maintain rigorous documentation standards across all project phases. Foster and ensure strong working relationships within internal project support groups. Qualifications University degree in Electrical Engineering. Over 15 years of relevant experience in BoP electrical systems design. Required experience in large‑scale electrical engineering for the hydroelectric industry. Proven track record of client orientation, including business development, marketing, and responding to tenders. Ability to deliver results, including managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong leader with proven skills in motivating and mobilizing a team, demonstrating strength in managing highly complex groups. Practical knowledge of all applicable industry codes and standards. Ability to draw conclusions using sound engineering judgment. Experience in supervision and proven leadership skills. Experience with AutoCAD and BIM – Revit software. People‑oriented with the ability to establish a high degree of credibility with staff and clients. Effective interpersonal and organizational communication skills. Commitment to teamwork. Availability for occasional travel within the region and abroad. Excellent communication skills in French and English.
