Base pay range About Us The Ministry of Justice and Attorney General provides a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan; promotes safe and secure communities; and provides legal and justice policy advice to government. The ministry is responsible for justice services and court administration services, legal aid, prosecutions services, administrative tribunals, civil and family justice services, compliance and enforcement, policy and providing legal and legislative services to government. The Public Prosecutions Division handles prosecutions for offences under the Criminal Code, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and certain federal and provincial laws. Opportunity The Ministry is seeking an experienced legal professional with a proven ability to lead diverse teams, to join the Prosecutions Division as Legal Executive Director, Operations. This position will be accountable for oversight of operational functions that supports the work of Public Prosecutions. This permanent opportunity is located in Regina. Key Responsibilities Provide oversight of Administrative and HR Operations, Finance, Information Technology and Business Solutions, Professional Development, and Special Projects; Partner with ADAG and Executive Directors across the Division to align operational and legal needs within the Division and optimize resource deployment; Manage the education and professional development needs of the Division including legislative developments, jurisprudence and other legal developments to ensure divisional resources are in place to address the changing legal landscape; Assist with complex issues involving policy, conflicts, and special projects; Collaborate proactively with the ADAG and Executive Directors to coordinate and prepare the Division’s annual budget proposals through the collection of data and the preparation of supporting documentation; Engage in strategic planning to meet Ministry and Division needs; Provide leadership to the Prosecutions Agent Program to ensure legal issues are considered when scheduling and collaborate with the Director of Agents to grow this program; Coordinate Prosecution responses to requests from the Access and Privacy Branch. Ideal Candidate Advanced legal knowledge and skills including having conducted Criminal Code prosecutions, motions and applications and the presentation of evidence, with the ability to assess and address the Division’s educational and technology needs; Comprehensive knowledge of the justice system, with a strong focus on criminal law, knowledge of Public Prosecutions and an understanding of the legal supports required for the Division; Forward-thinking to support advancements in digital evidence and technology, and their application in criminal prosecutions, while assessing the appropriate risk management considerations; A strong commitment to professional development, ensuring the Division is kept apprised of relevant legal developments; Exceptional communication skills and a proven ability to navigate complex legal matters through strategic influence and trusted relationship-building; Ability to anticipate Division needs and align strategies to drive organizational success; Experience in the development and implementation of policies and procedures; A dynamic and inclusive leadership style with a proven ability to effectively lead in an evolving legal environment, engage with diverse stakeholders, and foster innovation. The successful candidate must be a member or eligible to become a member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan. Typical Experience Experience in the criminal justice system; Knowledge of Public Prosecutions; Advanced understanding of legal process and procedures such as evidence presentation in trials and creating legal precedents.
