The Occupational Health Nurse will have responsibility for the management of employee illness/injury related absences, and support return to work processes. Working with the Director of Occupational Health & Safety, they will support the development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of occupational health program initiatives and lead health promotion and wellness activities.This is a Permanent, full-time position, based in Ontario. It is a hybrid role, mainly virtual with occasional travel.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDisability Case ManagementLead case management of employee absences and accommodation requests due to injury/illnessAssess medical documentation, identify functional limitations, and support the development of appropriate modified duties and accommodationsMaintain accurate, timely, and confidential health records in accordance with legislation, best practices, and organizational policyAct as a key point of contact for employees navigating the disability or accommodation process, ensuring clear, empathetic communicationLiaise with benefits providers, healthcare providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and compliant case resolutionConsulting with SE’s Occupational Health Physician as neededLeadershipSupport the development, implementation, and evaluation of occupational health and safety programsContribute clinical expertise to occupational health and safety discussions, risk assessments, and policy development as neededBuilding and maintaining strong working relationships and collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholdersStay up to date on industry best practices and regulatory changes related to occupational health and safety, and disability case managementLeadership and participation in relevant organizational processes, consultation, and trainingAll other reasonable duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSRegistered Nurse with current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of OntarioBachelor of Science in Nursing degreeOccupational Health Nursing Diploma or Certificate/Canadian Nurses Association Certification in Occupational Health NursingAt least 5 years’ experience in occupational health and disability case managementStrong working knowledge of relevant legislation including the Human Rights Code, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, and workers’ compensation frameworksSKILLS REQUIREDExpert level ability to independently manage employee injuries and illnesses, including assessment, documentation, coordination, and follow-upExcellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to build trust and communicate clearly with employees, unions, healthcare providers, leaders and workers’ compensation boardsAbility to handle sensitive personal and medical information with professionalism, integrity and according to legal requirementsComfortable working in a dynamic environment with evolving program needs and legislationAbility to perform functions of the position with minimal supervisionExceptional multi-tasking, organization, and time management skillsStrong analytical skills, critical thinking and attention to detailStrong experience working with MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and TeamsDemonstrated ability to quickly gain proficiency in the use of internal digital technology platforms, case management systems, and digital toolsA vehicle and valid driver’s license with the ability to travel occasionally within OntarioWhy Join SE Health?Competitive Compensation – Enjoy a Total Rewards package including salary, benefits, pension, performance incentives, on demand pay, car loan support, supportive housing and exclusive staff perks.Flexibility & Support – We offer a unique hybrid model with work-from-home options, flexible scheduling and an inclusive culture to help you thriveMeaningful Impact – As a Social Enterprise, your work directly supports improving lives across Canada.
