OverviewSupplier Quality Engineer role at Ultra Maritime. The Ultra Quality function is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and fulfilment of Ultra's Quality Policy, which is to comply fully in the conduct of the Company's business with all applicable regulatory and customer required specifications, and to maintain an effective Quality Management System, working in partnership with the Operations and Engineering teams to ensure that products and processes conform to applicable standards and specifications, and the incidence and costs of quality non-conformances are constantly monitored and improved, while maintaining the highest practicable standards of manufacturing productivity and efficiency.The function is responsible for all quality assurance activities related to suppliers and subcontractors.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for all quality assurance activities related to suppliers and subcontractorsResponsible for performing supplier assessmentsResponsible for executing supplier auditsProviding quality input to supplier selectionFacilitating supplier performance reviews and maintaining associated supplier performance metricsUnderstanding and prioritizing supplier development needs across programs and business functionsProviding technical expertise and leadership to sourcing and development of suppliers with respect to technology, performance, quality, cost, logistics and deliveryPerforming and facilitating investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvementsProviding guidance to project teams on the usage of Ultra Maritime’s quality management systemProviding quality awareness trainingEnsuring risk management and associated tools are being maintained and reviewed effectivelyAdvocate quality and its importance throughout the Ultra MaritimeRequired SkillsDiploma, graduate degree or equivalent work experience3+ years quality experience in a manufacturing environmentAbility to travel to visit other Ultra Maritime sites and suppliersExperience in managing non-conformance reportsAuditing experienceExperience in supplier sourcing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and program managementAbility to interpret engineering drawings and knowledge of manufacturing processesStrong problem-solving skills and expertise to develop and execute objectivesThe candidate must be able to obtain the appropriate Canadian government NATO security clearance and satisfy all requirements to work on Canadian Controlled Goods projectsProficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Desired SkillsWorking knowledge of IFS ERP would be an advantageInternal auditor - Lead auditor preferredWorking knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001:2015Knowledge of AQAP / Defence Standards an advantageKnowledge of IPC-A-610 / 620 an advantageMember of a relevant recognized chartered bodyAbility to deliver under pressure with an appetite for measured successCollaborative working with people with a diverse range of backgroundsA positive, proactive attitude with a high level of self-motivation to deliver excellenceHigh attention to detail and good time management skillsReliable and able to work with minimum supervisionWell organized and delivery focusedGood communication skills, both written and oralWhat’s in it for you?We offer a competitive benefits package including extended health and dental, life insurance, RRSP, deferred profit sharing, optional critical illness insurance, an EFAP and student bursaries.We encourage regular manager-employee performance feedback, goal alignment and employee development through our Employee Performance Development Plan (EPDP) and offer employee education assistance to allow our people to acquire new qualifications and certifications.Equal OpportunityUltra Maritime is an equal opportunities employer that values diversity, inclusion, equity and equality.
