OverviewAccounting Technician, Assurance & Accounting role at MNP. This position supports the Assurance & Accounting team by providing comprehensive, tailored financial information to enable clients to make informed decisions in a dynamic business and financial reporting landscape.ResponsibilitiesAssist with compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagementsPrepare and maintain government remittances/filings, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable and payroll transactionsSet-up client files, assist with the completion of budgets and administrative planningPerform the month-end and quarter-end close processMaintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, intercompany and POS/system uploadsIdentify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with managers or engagement partners to develop resolutionsCommunicate with the government regarding information requests, assessments and installmentsWork collaboratively with the client engagement teamMaintain flexibility to travel, as necessaryQualificationsAccounting certificate or bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is considered an asset)2+ years of relevant accounting experienceExperience preparing T4s and T5s and knowledge of personal and corporate tax is preferredWorking knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes is considered an assetExperience working with accounting and tax software is considered an assetRewards and DiversityWith a focus on high-potential earnings, MNP offers customized rewards that support our culture and a balanced lifestyle.
