Senior Software Engineer (React-leaning)We’re scaling our Product & Engineering organisation and expanding our Sydney hub, and we’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer with deep React expertise who wants to build, ship, and shape a global SaaS product used and loved by leading law firms around the world.If you love being close to users and UI, this role will feel like home. While your strength is in React/TypeScript, you’ll work across the full stack to ship end-to-end features as part of a collaborative, cross-functional squad with Product & Design, and help define the patterns, architecture, and frontend quality bar as we scale.We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical depth, product intuition, and a high level of ownership — someone who raises the bar, uses AI to accelerate their workflow, and knows how to balance autonomy with collaboration.Job requirementsMust haves:Strong experience building React/TypeScript applicationsComfort working full-stack, especially with Ruby on RailsGood instincts around UX, UI quality, and user‑centred designExperience building and shipping in SaaS or fast‑moving tech environmentsStrong debugging, testing, and performance awarenessAbility to take ownership, operate autonomously, and drive outcomesComfortable solving ambiguous or complex problemsStrong collaboration skills with Engineering, Product, and DesignUnderstanding of security best practices (auth, permissions, data protection)Solid grounding in performance, logging, monitoring, and tracingGrowth mindset + drive to raise the barFluency using AI tools as part of your engineering workflowNice to haves:Experience in multi‑tenant, data‑heavy applicationsExperience with GraphQL, gRPC, or real‑time communication protocols (WebSockets)Exposure to AI/LLM application developmentExperience working in cross‑functional squadsExposure to React Native or PythonFamiliarity with Marketing Tech, CRM‑like systems, or workflow automation productsExperience in LegalTech or Professional Services techKnowledge of DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code or cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure)Experience mentoring engineers or influencing engineering cultureExperience in early‑stage or scale‑up environmentsJob responsibilitiesBuild polished, high‑quality interfaces using React + TypeScriptShip full‑stack features, contributing to backend work in Rails + PythonWork closely with Product & Design to create simple, intuitive user experiencesImprove frontend performance, maintainability, accessibility, and consistencyHelp evolve our frontend architecture, components, and design systemDebug issues across the stack (starting with the UI)Use AI tools to move faster from coding to testing to documentationMentor engineers and help lift our engineering barInfluence standards, patterns, and long‑term frontend directionLifeatNexlHigh growth.
