About the Role Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs. We are looking for an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) to join the Anode Paste Plant (APP) maintenance team. Your work will focus on installing, relocating, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on plant equipment to keep operations running safely and efficiently. You will work with equipment such as conveyors, ball mills, vibro‑compacting units, PNF chains, dust collectors, HTM pumps, and pitch pumps. This is a great opportunity for a safety‑oriented and motivated individual, with skills and expertise in the field, to contribute to the reliability of equipment by creating and repairing key components in process equipment and buildings in a safe, environmentally friendly, and cost‑effective manner. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and working a 10‑hour shift, Tuesday to Friday, this is a permanent, full‑time role based in Kitimat, BC. This role is not eligible for relocation support; applicants must be ready to relocate to Kitimat independently. Responsibilities Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety policies, procedures, and standards, including proper use of lock‑out/tag‑out and isolation procedures. Coordinating millwright activities with overall plant operations, including preparing parts lists and ordering or retrieving parts as required. Diagnosing and repairing rotating and conveying equipment, including pumps, elevators, screw conveyors, belting, and materials handling. Using power and hand tools, performing rigging at heights with appropriate safety equipment (harness, lanyard, SRLs, man‑lifts, scissorlifts). Keeping the work area safe, clean and well maintained; taking timely action to correct unsafe conditions. Maintaining a continuous improvement focus by developing and implementing solutions to eliminate issues identified in the work area. Working effectively as an individual and as part of a team, communicating respectfully with all team members and stakeholders. What You’ll Bring A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team. Interprovincial Red Seal Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certificate of qualification. Experience repairing industrial equipment. Demonstrable mechanical aptitude; skilled at rigging, fabricating, repairing equipment and welding. Rigging equipment knowledge (wire rope, chokers, synthetic slings, clamps, hooks, shackles, etc.). Ability to read blueprints and drawings; know how to give correct crane signals and calculate loads (training provided). Valid Driver’s License (minimum BC Class 7).
