Reporting to the Assistant Director, Residence Life, the Supervisor, Residence Community Development will oversee the management of the community development program, directly supervising three Community Development Coordinators, and indirectly supervising approximately 60 student staff. The incumbent is responsible for supporting student development in residence and the continued development of the community development program including all programs, support initiatives, and strategies designed to help make the 1,400 students who live on campus feel right at home. This is a multifaceted role that works closely with all areas of Student Housing and Residence Life in delivering the best possible experience to our residents. Your responsibilities will include: Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives Conducting detailed analysis of program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance Facilitating educational workshops and seminars Interpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisions Responding to escalated complaints using informal negotiation skills Directing the activities of a group of staff‑appointed employees all performing a similar function Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Minimum five years professional experience in student housing/residence. Experience responding to crisis and emergency situations in residence while on-call. Experience hiring, training, coaching, and supervising student and casual staff. Ability to supervise and direct staff to meet departmental goals. Familiar with student development research, literature, theories, trends, and best practices. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to exercise good judgement, tact, initiative, and problem solving skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment. Ability to exercise patience, tact, judgement, and discretion. Demonstrated ability to relate to students in a way that builds trust and confidence. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team environment. Ability to work as an effective adult educator - for the purpose of curriculum development, implementation, delivery, and evaluation. Assets (Nonessential) Master's degree in Education (or related field) is an asset.
