Psychiatric Attendant – Mental Health 1C – Part Time5 days ago Be among the first 25 applicantsGet AI-powered advice on this job and more exclusive features.Continue with Google Continue with GooglePurposeTo maintain unit safety and security by assisting the nursing staff with the management of aggressive patients.DutiesAssist in the control of aggressive patients as directed by the nursing staff or physician.Report any observable changes in patient behavior.Assist in Code Alerts in the In-Patient Unit and in Code Whites in the hospital.Assist in safety searches.Maintain confidentiality and work within Hospital and Unit Structure and Process Standards.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsDegree or Diploma in Social Services through an accredited college.Current NCI certification.Current CPR and First Aid.KnowledgeComputer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office.Knowledge of the Mental Health Act.AbilityAbility to meet physical demands of the job, including extended standing, walking, lifting and climbing using proper technique.Ability to work under pressure and use good judgment in assessing difficult situations.Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team member in a fast paced environment in stressful situations.Ability to maintain successful working relationships with the interdisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes.Ability to organize time effectively to perform the duties of the position.Ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner.Ability to read to perform the duties of the position.Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.Demonstrated ability to assess safety for patients and staff and act accordingly.Demonstrated behaviour consistent with Hospital Mission, Vision, Values and Standards of Performance.Note: Because of the changing nature of the work and work to be done, other responsibilities and duties may be assigned and qualifications may be adjusted from time to time.NOTE: Internal applicants, if providing a hardcopy, please complete internal application form.
