Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the Mining team, based in our Brampton, North Bay, or Sudbury Ontario offices.

What a day at EXP has in store for you
  1. Ability to work and communicate positively within a team.
  2. Understanding of project mission, including Client requirements.
  3. Ability to read, understand, and comment on manufacturer equipment drawings and specifications.
  4. Checking of 3D models and drawings developed by others.
  5. Troubleshoot, analyze, identify, evaluate, propose engineering solutions.
  6. Establish continuous improvement plans where efficiency, quality, safety, or service can be improved.
  7. Responsible for managing budgets, schedule and deliverables related to the layout.
  8. Provide mentorship and supervision to the design team.
  9. Provide support to our systems and tools including the Bentley Suite of software (OpenPlant Modeler, OpenPlant P&ID).
  10. Provide regular feedback to the Overall Mechanical Engineering Lead on progress with the preparation of deliverables.
  11. Ability to engage and coordinate the design with client representatives.
  12. Participate and assist in proposal preparations.
  13. Become familiar with EXP standards.
What your experience looks like
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  2. At least 3 years relevant experience with engineering/design deliverables in an industrial setting.
  3. Experience in consulting engineering is preferred.
  4. Design experience, preferably in the consulting industry, (preference will be given to those candidates with experience in Mineral Mining projects).
  5. Experience with the design registration of power piping systems with the safety authority.
  6. Experience with Section VIII, Div 1 pressure vessel design modifications and pressure vessel alterations with the safety authority.
  7. Experience with ASME B31.3 and B31.1 piping codes, National Board, API 650, ASME Section VIII Div 1, NFPA codes, CSA Z662 and CSA Z276 is desired.
  8. Knowledge of mining and bulk material handling (crushing, grinding, screening, conveying, flotation and tailings).
  9. Knowledge of piping design and process equipment (PE piping, slurry hydraulics, tanks, pumps, and pipe stress).
  10. Organized, self-motivated, pro-active, detail-oriented, and have good communication skills.
  11. Sound understanding of design, engineering codes and technical standards.
  12. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, products. AutoCAD and/or MicroStation experience required.
  13. Extensive knowledge in engineering standards, codes and guidelines and engineering systems coordination.
  14. Knowledge of mining-related processes a definite asset.
  15. Ability to work and communicate positively within a team.
  16. Ability to function with minimal supervision.
  17. Experience with Greenfield and Brownfield interfaces, including constructability experience.
  18. Must be a team player and can work collaboratively with others.
  19. Excellent problem-solving skills and critical-thinking.
  20. Willing and able to travel for short durations to various global project offices or site is considered an asset.
