OverviewJob DescriptionRole: We have an immediate opening for a Garage Door Installer Helper located in the Edmonton branch. Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the helper will work as part of a two-person crew; this position will assist in the service and/or installation of overhead doors while learning on the job from the Lead Technician. This role is a permanent, full-time position with opportunities for advancement.ResponsibilitiesParticipating in installing Sectional (includes FinDoor), Rolling steel, Fire Doors, High Speed Doors, Security Grilles, Roll Shutters, BifoldD&A Testing for site access or post incidentChampioning safety standards with a strong safety mindsetWorking with hand tools, electric tools, lifts, and laddersMaintain a professional manner during regular interaction with warehouse staff, construction Project Managers, customers, other trades, and safety personnelTaking direction from the Lead Technician and providing supportOut of town travel for installation and service work, not limited to weekdays- without noticeFocus on quality workmanshipActively participating in learning the skill with intention to progress to a Lead TechnicianParticipate in training and execution of welding for installation or repairs if requiredRegularly communicate and coordinate with the scheduler on problem solving, provide solutions and required parts if neededEffectively assess job scope with a Lead Technician and note any discrepancies to your scheduler immediately - e.g.: product warranty, site conditions, and safetyComplete all required paperwork daily and submit on time at the end of each work day - e.g.: timesheets, FHLA’s, job work orders with clear notes and part numbersProviding service, diagnosing problems, providing solutions, and carrying out required work on overhead doorsIf needed, on the on-call rotation for serviceThe ability to transport product on trailers and manlifts (on trailers) to and from sites safelyAccountable for safety training and tickets being up to date and valid; clearly communicate to scheduler on required renewals (e.g., Fall Protection, OSSA Elevated Work Platform, Standard First Aid, CSTS)Wearing a hard hat and other PPE as required is mandatory for this safety-sensitive roleGeneral warehouse dutiesDaily attendance and punctualityOther duties, as assignedQualificationsExperience in a Service/Installation Industry; previous experience with door automation considered an assetMinimum 3 - 6 months’ experience in a relevant trade (i.e. construction, welding, millwright etc.)Resourcefulness, integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a team environmentAny relevant safety training and tickets is an asset (WHMIS, Fall Protection, First Aid, etc.)Must be able to lift up to 75 poundsMust be able to work outside in all different weather conditions, including cold and extreme heat; lifting, pulling, climbing, standing, sitting, lying down, squatting and kneeling and managing equipment and tools requiredMust be able to successfully pass pre-employment screening requirements including but not limited to drug, alcohol and health assessmentPossess a valid driver’s license and clean driving abstractPossessing resourcefulness, integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a team environmentAbove-average mechanical aptitudeNew hire candidates will be required to provide a current Driver’s Abstract from the province where the position is located, at their own costMust be able to successfully pass pre-employment screening requirements including background check, drug, alcohol and health assessmentWe offerA positive work environment with competitive pay and an excellent benefit planEncouragement and support for our Technicians and Installers in obtaining CDI CertificationComprehensive technical, safety and product training providedOpportunity to build a long-term career with upward mobilityExcellent Health and Dental benefits offered for full-time employeesCOR Certified workplaceEqual opportunity employerTo ApplyIf this career opportunity sounds like the right fit for you, apply online at creativedoor.com with your resume and include your salary expectations.
