We are seeking a highly skilled Astronomer / Airflow Architect to design, develop, and manage scalable data workflows and orchestrations for our banking client. This role requires deep expertise in Apache Airflow, data pipeline architecture, and meteorological data analysis (Astronomy background optional but advantageous), to support data-driven decision-making, regulatory compliance, and innovative banking solutions. Additional Information* The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, ON is CAD $110k – CAD $130k/year & benefits (see below). The Role Responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain reliable, scalable, and efficient data pipelines using Apache Airflow. Architect data workflows to support complex banking analytics, reporting, and data science initiatives. Collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Business Stakeholders to understand data requirements. Implement best practices for workflow orchestration, monitoring, and alerting. Optimize data pipelines for performance, security, and cost-efficiency. Document workflows, processes, and architecture diagrams. Stay updated with the latest advancements in airflow orchestration, cloud technologies, and data engineering trends. Conduct troubleshooting and resolve production issues related to data workflows. Contribute to the development of data governance and compliance standards. Requirements: Experience with Apache Airflow in production environments. Experience in designing and implementing ETL, Data Warehousing, and ML/AI use cases. Proficiency in Python. Knowledge of Azure cloud-native data architecture. Demonstrated technical leadership on team projects. Strong oral and written communication skills. Willingness to learn new technologies and build reference implementations. Experience in migrating workflows from legacy schedulers (Tidal) to Apache Airflow. Experience in integrating with Azure Data Factory pipelines. Snowflake and Databricks experience. Experience working with containers. SQL experience. Kubernetes experience, either on-premise or in the cloud. Enterprise data experience in regulated environments. Preferred, but not required: Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes). Exposure to big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop). Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
