Chief, Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery We are looking for a full‑time academic paediatric otolaryngologist to serve as the next Department Chief for the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and the University of Toronto’s Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery (OHNS). The successful candidate will hold an academic appointment at the rank of associate or full professor at the University of Toronto, be eligible for a full‑time clinical academic appointment, and be a board‑certified paediatric otolaryngologist with an MD, MBBS or equivalent. Responsibilities Provide direct clinical care in the paediatric otolaryngology service and participate in the emergency on‑call schedule. Promote and advance the individual research interests of faculty and lead collective research initiatives such as prospective outcome studies. Ensure the highest quality paediatric otolaryngology clinical care and foster a culture of quality and safety. Provide top‑quality education for clinical fellows, residents, and faculty coordinators. Support and develop the Department’s long‑term vision, integrating with the mission of Peri‑Operative Services, the Hospital and the University of Toronto. Negotiate clinical and academic time allocation based on scholarly productivity and academic plan. Qualifications MD, MBBS or equivalent; board certified and eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Academic appointment as an associate or full professor at the University of Toronto. Established paediatric otolaryngologist with an international reputation and a record of peer‑reviewed research. Proven strong administrative and leadership skills, including management proficiency, dispute resolution, communication expertise, mentorship, and the ability to engender trust. Experience in undergraduate, postgraduate, fellowship, continuing medical education, or patient education leadership. Demonstrated clinical and academic excellence in basic or clinical research, surgical education, quality and safety, or other academic pursuits. Compensation & Benefits Compensation is competitive within North America and combines a base stipend funded through the Alternate Funding Plan arrangement with the Ministry of Health and Long‑Term Care (MoHLTC) and additional partial fee‑for‑service funds. A per‑annum stipend for administrative leadership responsibilities is provided, and relocation expenses are offered.
