Zurich Canada is currently looking for a Senior Tax Manager to join our team and provide expert tax advice and support to our organization.
Reporting to the Head of Tax, you will be responsible for overseeing tax compliance and planning for Zurich Canada. You will work closely with various departments to ensure tax strategies align with business objectives and comply with all relevant regulations. This is a unique opportunity to build your knowledge and experience for the future in a supportive environment where your voice matters.
This is a Hybrid role.
What you will do -- Oversee and manage the preparation and filing of federal, provincial, and local tax returns.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax benefits.
- Provide guidance on tax implications of business transactions and strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations.
- Conduct tax research and stay updated on changes in tax legislation.
- Represent the company in tax audits and disputes.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide tax-related advice and support.
What you bring to the table:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, with 10 or more years of post-graduation tax experience, including 5+ years specifically in the financial services industry.
OR
• High School Diploma or equivalent, with 12 or more years of experience in corporate tax within a corporation or public accounting firm, and completion or near completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Course.
AND
• Professional Accounting Designation or a graduate of the Master of Taxation program.
• Completed, or nearly completed, the CPA In-Depth Tax Course.
• Knowledge of insurance taxation is required.
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
• Proven leadership abilities, capable of leading and motivating a team.
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges.
Preferred:
• Advanced income tax experience in a public accounting or multi-national corporate tax department
• Experience with Corptax and/or SAP
