We are seeking aCorporate Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting, with a specific focus on corporate accounting within the professional services industry. By joining our team, you will contribute to our mission of creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels valued and respected.Responsibilities:General Ledger Management:· Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled (including but not limited to, coding invoices, journal entries, bank reconciliations, accruals, depreciation, etc.).· Review and analyze account balances, including accruals, prepayments, and provisions.· Review management fee, chargeback and other billings for accuracy and completion.· Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.· Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the company.· Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and relevant accounting standards.· Assist in the preparation of internal management reports and presentations for stakeholders.Budgeting and Forecasting:· Collaborate with management to develop annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts.· Monitor actual financial performance against budgeted targets and provide variance analysis.· Identify trends and provide insights to support decision-making processes.Tax Compliance:· Sales tax (including but not limited to HST/QST) preparation and monthly filing.· Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations that may impact the company's financial position.· Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and business decisions.Audit Support:· Coordinate and support external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations.· Address audit inquiries and implement recommendations to strengthen internal controls.· Ensure compliance with audit requirements and deadlines.Qualifications & Competencies:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or comparable industry experience. CPA designation is an asset;Experience working with holding companies and market securities.Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage), Unanet,and Microsoft Excel.Demonstrated ability to implement and improve processes.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Effective communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.Eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance.Canderel is an equal opportunity employer.
