We are in search of a business minded individual who has a passion for numbers The Accountant will be responsible for all of the accounting and financial reporting functions of the business and maintaining day-to-day full cycle accounting records.

Company Description

The Harman Group operates a fleet of several hundred satellite-tracked trucks all across North America. They specialize in hauling temperature controlled products and the transportation of various goods and warehousing and distribution.

Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for all the accounting and financial reporting functions of the business and maintaining full cycle accounting. This will include the on-going review and maintaining of the day to day accounting records, completion of all month-end activities and the preparation of the year-end financial reporting for the shareholders and external accountants. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for on-going process improvements, cost cutting measures, and negotiation with key suppliers. The role will also entail the ability to produce various financial reports that summarize and analyze key performance indicators. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring proper documentation, implementation of preventative and detective controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare month-end close and financial reporting packages
• Prepare annual and monthly budgets
• Prepare and submit payroll spreadsheets, calculations, tax submissions, HST, EHT & WSIB
• Reconcile all accounts, including bank, accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Develop financial and non-financial controls
• Develop a company strategic plan with key management personnel
• Manage the accounting department
• Communicate with external accountants, CRA and banks to ensure we are in compliance with our financial and tax reporting requirements

Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge and experience in accounting
• Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
• Proficient in accounting software’s and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Education / Work Experience:

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
• Completed a recognized CPA/CA designation program
• Minimum three to five years of experience in a similar role
