Summary DMC is currently looking for a Project Engineer to join our team on a contract basis, based in Cadomin, Alberta. The Project Engineer is responsible for the coordination and delivery of all engineering services required for the Project. This includes a functional support role to the construction / operations team on the Project. The Project Engineer will ensure that engineering scope (drawings), specifications, bill of materials, quality control and general engineering coordination are available when required, in order to complete all aspects of the project on time, to a high quality and within budget. Survey requirements will be fulfilled by the Project Engineer, including primary control management, setting out, development support and equipment management. Responsibilities Support the construction / operational team for surface and underground work, overseeing engineering design progression and coordinating procurement of all items relating to scope. Ensure items are on site when required and that teams are aligned with any quality control required during construction. Report on progress to internal and external stakeholders. Involve throughout the package lifecycle and site scope. Interface with mining crews and supervision to ensure all metrics are captured accurately. Engineering Recommend design or method improvements to improve safety and productivity. Work with design engineers in corporate offices to ensure drawings are received on time and review them, making required changes. Remedy any defects or deficiencies in engineering design. Maintain at site a complete set of standards, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with industry and project standards. Procurement Develop work packages to clarify scope and coordinate with procurement to support the tender-award process. Generate scope of work and compile procurement packages. Manage packages to ensure completion of high-quality work within budget and schedule. Provide schedule updates and coordinate with the Project Manager/Superintendent. Coordinate multi-discipline efforts for timely preparation, evaluation, and recommendation of sub-contract packages. Oversee change management and provide commercial financial breakdowns for approval. Construction Generate construction work packets ensuring alignment of the project team and clear scope definition. Support procedure writing and coordination with operational/construction team on safe, high-quality methodologies. Assist with technical issues during construction/operations. Support quality and commissioning phases, including managing quality packages and documentation. Submit daily shift reports based on collected data. Collect shift data; interface with mining crews and supervisors to capture metrics. Survey Manage stock levels. Set out line and grade. Perform laser scanning and processing. Place requisitions for equipment. Interface with vendors for third-party survey support. Measure, record, and report mining advance on a shift basis. Develop and review reports. Monitor underground environments (ventilation, concrete monitoring, convergence). Set out new construction scopes and conduct as-built surveys. Participate in active quality management. Other Active role in safety management on site. Provide input to weekly and monthly reports. Undertake personal development activities annually. Assist in mentoring junior team members. Available to work overtime hours as required. Qualifications Experience Experience working in the mining industry in a Project Engineering (or similar) role. On-site experience in a construction/operations execution-based role. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including client/contractor management. Surveying experience. Experience in schedule and budget oversight. Understanding of design engineering codes, technical standards and regulations in Canadian mining sector. Desirable: Experience in start-up projects. Desirable: Experience in EPC projects. Skills Work closely with the site engineering team and interface with the Project Manager. Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Handle pressure and meet tight deadlines. Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge. Produce detailed inspection reports. Desirable: AutoCAD skills and drawing generation experience. Desirable: Experience with planning software (Microsoft Project or Primavera P6). No external recruiters please.
