Senior Underwriter P&C – Commercial Lines, Aviva Canada Join Aviva Canada as a Senior Underwriter for our Commercial Insurance Underwriting Branch in Ontario. What You’ll Do Qualify and underwrite medium‑mid‑market commercial accounts (annual premium $10,000+) ensuring profitability and top‑line growth. Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, customers, and cross‑functional teams. Refer risks outside established authority to Specialists and maintain portfolio quality. Identify and remediate concerns regarding loss ratios or risk trends. Build knowledge of commercial insurance information systems. Participate in quality reviews, audits, and support compliance of underwriting environment. What You’ll Bring 5+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience in property & casualty. Post‑secondary degree in business or related field (or equivalent experience). Preferred certifications: CIP/FCIP. Strong knowledge of underwriting, pricing and product across segments. Understanding of related functional areas: claims, risk management, accounting, etc. Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, policies, rating programs, risk sources, manuals, statutory constraints, and workflow procedures. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, RTM, commercial systems. Professional relationships with brokers, customers, and internal partners. Self‑motivated, proactive in pursuing business opportunities and listening to client needs. Seniority Level Mid‑Senior level – Full‑time, Finance and Sales function, Insurance industry.
