Position Summary The Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistant will be required to perform, order, and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic investigations and interventions. The duties of this position can/will include performing history and physical exams in a variety of settings. Physician Assistants/Clinical Assistants will be required to attend clinical and educational rounds. Administrative requirements will include standard‑of‑practice recordings of all patient encounters, using dictation or electronic medical records where available. Assistants must be able to communicate effectively in English with other members of interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Qualifications Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba as a Physician Assistant or Clinical Assistant Must be eligible for a Medical Staff Appointment with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Prior experience preferred Physician Assistants Candidates must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant Educational Program acceptable to the College and eligible for national certification Clinical Assistants Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical School in Canada or abroad Must have at least one of the following: Clinical Assistant Assessment NAC OSCE LMCC Critical Skills Proven knowledge and ability in relationship‑building, critical thinking, decision‑making, problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills Focus on Results Demonstrated ability to prioritize and focus work‑related activities to effectively and efficiently achieve service goals and produce expected results/outcomes Alignment with Organizational Values Commitment to the principles that guide Mount Carmel Clinic, as reflected in the history, vision, mission, and values Indigenous Understanding Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions and the impact of colonization on the health and well‑being of Indigenous individuals and families Interdisciplinary Team, Collaboration Proven ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment with respect, professionalism, cooperation, sensitivity, and cultural awareness MCC Philosophies Strong knowledge, commitment, and demonstrated ability to apply diversity, equity, cultural safety, pro‑choice, social determinants of health, population health, harm reduction, trauma‑informed, and community development principles in all aspects of the work Communication Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in the use of computer systems All positions are subject to Criminal Record, Child and Adult Abuse Registry checks.
