Software Development Director

Corpay is currently looking to hire a Software Development Director. As a Software Development Director, you will oversee and lead multiple teams, ensuring the successful execution of all software projects and initiatives. You will work closely with executive leadership and other departments to align software development efforts with the company's strategic objectives and growth plans. This role requires strategic vision, strong technical expertise, and exceptional leadership skills to drive innovation and maintain high standards of software development.

Role Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Defining and communicating the technical vision and strategy for software development across multiple teams.
  • Leading the design and architecture of scalable, robust, and secure software solutions.
  • Collaborating with development teams to solve complex technical problems.
  • Creating and overseeing the implementation of technical roadmaps.
  • Evaluating and recommending technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance the software architecture.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing multiple high-performing teams of software engineers.
  • Fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Conducting performance evaluations and identify training and development needs.
  • Ensuring consistent and effective communication and collaboration between different development teams.
  • Aligning team objectives and project goals with overall company strategy.
  • Addressing and resolving inter-team conflicts and dependencies.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Ensuring all software products meet high standards of quality, security, and performance.
  • Driving the adoption of best practices in coding, testing, and documentation.
  • Working closely with product management, back-office teams, and customer support to ensure seamless integration of software solutions.
  • Facilitating clear and effective communication between the software development teams and other stakeholders.
  • Staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development.
  • Driving the implementation of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies within the development teams.
  • Encouraging experimentation and innovation within the teams to solve technical challenges.
  • Developing and implementing recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
  • Leading the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Ensuring all software solutions comply with financial regulations and standards.
  • Implementing robust security measures to protect financial data and transactions.

Qualifications & Skills

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in software development, software architecture, and full SDLC.
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering complex software systems.
  • Strong understanding of the technical skills and competencies required for software development roles.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and development frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate multiple teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent decision-making and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across the organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development.
  • Experience in evaluating and implementing new technologies and tools.
  • Experience in financial industry, payments, foreign exchange, fintech is a plus.
