ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN Activity sector: Pulp and Paper Site: Kamloops Range: $70000 - $85000 Schedule: Fortnight (9-hour day shifts, every other Friday off) YOUR ROLE Reporting to the Financial Analyst, the Accounting Technician will be responsible for efficient administration of accounts payable and other accounting duties including communicating with various departments and/or vendors to maintain information files, investigating and resolving discrepancies and supporting the department in other tasks as required. Your Responsibilities Provides coverage and support for Business Services functions. Preparation of month-end journal entries and accruals. Preparation and distribution of various reporting. Enter vendor invoices for payment. Ensure the proper matching of invoices and investigation of issues as needed. Reconcile vendor balances to transaction history. Maintains AP vendor files and documentation for record retention as required. Various administrative support tasks as required. Your Skills And Abilities Aptitude to learn and acquire new skills. Ability to manage time and multi-task to accomplish assignments under tight deadlines. Self-directed and works with minimal supervision. Confident communicator at all levels of organization including listening, writing, and presenting. Customer oriented with the ability to collaborate well with others. Strong problem solving & analytical skills, excellent judgment and confidentiality. Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple tasks in an environment with competing demands. Detail oriented. Work well in team and possess a friendly and positive demeanor and professional image. Your Qualifications Minimum of a two-year diploma in an applicable accounting discipline, BBA/BCom in Finance or Accounting preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of intermediate accounting principles. Experience in data entry and a working knowledge of the Accounts Payable function. Strong computer system aptitude including Microsoft Office Suite products. SAP knowledge would be an asset.
