Recreation Facilities Manager Regular Full‑Time ($103,812.80 - $119,064.40) 2024 Rates Overview The District of Oak Bay, a picturesque seaside community within the Greater Victoria Region, seeks an experienced Recreation Facilities Manager. The role encompasses the safe and efficient operation of all recreation facilities, blending technical expertise, strategic leadership, and people‑focused management to deliver exceptional service to the community. Responsibilities Oversee the operation, maintenance, repairs, and capital renewal of all Oak Bay recreation facilities. Provide strategic and technical leadership to supervisors, maintenance staff, contractors, and other service providers. Ensure facilities are operated safely, cost‑effectively, and in alignment with District standards for building systems, energy efficiency, and customer service. Collaborate closely with the Facilities and Asset Management team, the Recreation Division, and other District departments to plan, operate, maintain, upgrade, and decommission assets across multiple recreation sites. Qualifications Technical diploma or degree in a related discipline, or a College/CEGEP certificate or diploma from a 1‑ to 2‑year program. Minimum ten (10) years of related experience, including five (5) years in a supervisory role in a unionised municipal or public‑sector environment. Experience with preventative maintenance programmes and contractor/trade management. Post‑secondary leadership and team‑management training, or equivalent experience. Training or certification in project or facilities management (e.g., Certified Associate in Project Management, Facility Management Professional, Project Management Professional) is considered an asset. Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License; Occupational First Aid Level 3 & CPR/AED; TSBC 4th Class or Refrigeration Operator Certification (or higher); Pool Operator Level 2 Certification (required). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
