AWS/CES is looking for an HSE/Labour Relations Advisor

Location: North of Leamington, ON

We are seeking a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) & Labour Relations Advisor to join our team north of Leamington, ON. This role will be responsible for overseeing workplace health, safety, and environmental compliance while managing labour relations in a unionized manufacturing environment.

Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Responsibilities:

  • Oversee environmental and waste management controls, tracking and reducing waste costs
  • Identify and implement actions to improve environmental and workplace safety standards
  • Develop and coordinate HSE training programs in compliance with regulations and company policies
  • Lead Emergency Response Plans and Joint Health and Safety Committee initiatives
  • Investigate safety incidents and implement corrective/preventative actions
  • Conduct safety sign-offs on new and modified manufacturing equipment
  • Manage WSIB claims, injury prevention plans, and compliance reporting
  • Oversee contractor safety programs and plant security procedures

Labour Relations Responsibilities:

  • Manage labour relations strategies in alignment with company objectives
  • Act as a liaison between management and union representatives, handling negotiations and dispute resolution
  • Administer and interpret collective bargaining agreements
  • Provide guidance on labour laws, employment standards, and human rights regulations
  • Represent management in grievances, arbitrations, and disciplinary matters
  • Monitor and analyze labour relations trends to support workforce planning
  • Oversee workplace policies on absenteeism, seniority, and employee discipline
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of company policies in a unionized environment

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Labour Studies, Human Resources, or Engineering (or a related college diploma)
  • 5+ years of experience in HSE and labour relations within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario labour laws, MOL regulations, and employment standards
  • Experience with ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, and manufacturing processes (plastics preferred)
