In this role, you will manage and support transactional databases, ensuring their optimal performance, stability, and security.Additional Information*The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Montreal is CAD $80k – CAD $85k/year & benefits (see below).The RoleResponsibilities:Manage and maintain transactional databases such as Sybase and IBM DB2.Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize SQL queries for efficiency.Work with complex SQL queries and ensure data integrity and security.Automate routine tasks using scripts in Python.Collaborate with development and operations teams to support database-related activities.Utilize schedulers such as Cron or Autosys to automate workflows.Use version control systems like GIT for managing change and configuration.Ensure database backups, recovery, and security protocols are correctly implemented.Document procedures, issues, and resolution steps for future reference.Support office working environment in Montreal.Requirements:Strong understanding of transactional databases (Sybase, DB2).Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.Intermediate knowledge of Python scripting.Comfortable working on Unix/Linux operating systems.Basic understanding of scheduling tools such as Cron or Autosys.Familiarity with GIT version control systemQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.1 to 5 years of relevant experience in database administration or support.Certifications related to database management or scripting are a plus.We offer:A multinational organization with 58 offices in 21 countries and the possibility to work abroad.15 days (3 weeks) of paid annual leave plus an additional 10 days of personal leave (floating days and sick days).A comprehensive insurance plan including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long-term disability.Flexible hybrid policy.RRSP with employer’s contribution up to 4%.SYNECHRON’S DIVERSITY & INCLUSION STATEMENTDiversity & Inclusion are fundamental to our culture, and Synechron is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.
