You will provide direction and support to your team while serving as a key link between the Design Engineering Manager, project managers, and customers, actively contributing technical design expertise to support project success and client communications.Location: On‑site in Kitchener, OntarioYour Day To Day As Mechanical Section ManagerEnsure effective allocation and utilization of design resourcesEnsure that design and schedule expectations for all current projects are being metSupport emergency tooling needsIdentify future field services tooling that needs to be developedManage Designer PerformanceSchedule work assignments based on project needsComplete performance evaluationsProvide clear expectations and regular feedbackIdentify training that is required to maintain or improve performanceFoster professional development through mentoring and coachingProvide and arrange applicable trainingSupport the team in troubleshooting issuesLead design employee hiring initiativesResponsible for the oversight of Performance Improvement PlansResponsible for the oversight of Individual Development Plans for identified talentProvide Technical ExpertiseAttend design reviews (internal and external)Provide technical leadership and support during customer interactionsGenerate ProposalsPrepare and support proposals for the design, analysis, and fabrication of tooling solutionsCollaborate with the design team, project management, field technicians, field engineers and trades, etc.Health and SafetyEnsure all work complies with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies, while promoting a strong safety culture among the team.QualityEnsure all work is completed to applicable quality standardsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in some field of engineering (preferably Mechanical)10 years of experience in the nuclear industryStrong oral presentation skills and writing skillsProfessional Engineer designation is an asset but is not requiredTooling design experience is strongly preferredExperience with N299 Quality Programs a bonusSecurity ClearanceThis role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement and/or other benefits.
