About the Role: Reporting to the Director, SW Regional Cancer Services, Inpatient Oncology, CMH and Stem Cell, Physician assistants (PAs) collaborate with physicians to deliver healthcare services, operating under the guidance of a physician. The PA in Malignant Hematology primarily supports the care of lymphoma, myeloma and leukemia patients undergoing treatments including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and/or radiation, as well as symptom management. The PA may occasionally support routine care of stem cell transplant recipients or conduct outpatient visits by performing patient histories and physical examinations. The PA may perform procedures such as bone marrow aspirates/biopsies with adequate additional training and provider approval. On the inpatient unit, rounds are completed with the attending, hospitalists, and residents, who can then leave for educational sessions, allowing the PA to manage medical care, adjust orders and perform the traditional duties of a hospitalist with malignant hematology specialization. Attending and supervising physicians are always available for support and case review. Working with their supervising physician, PAs can be trained to acquire new skills that are deemed necessary for the physician's area of practice. PAs may engage in educational activities, research, and administrative tasks as delegated. What we offer: Regular Full‑time Rate of Pay: $53.72 per hour – $67.16 per hour Hours of Work: 30.00 Hours per week As the ideal candidate, you have: Four (4) year Undergraduate Degree in Health Sciences (Physician Assistant) and completion of 2‑year Physician Assistant program Current Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) Current BLS for Healthcare Providers course: BLS‑HCP(C) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification for which you can provide proof upon request ATLS certification preferred Proficiency in computer applications like Cerner / Outlook and PACS Advanced ability to perform in stressful and critical/emergency situations Advanced flexibility and ability to adapt to change Strong critical thinking, decision‑making skills, and analytical and conceptual skills Advanced organizational skills Advanced communication skills (both verbal and written) and facilitation/presentation skills Ability to use Microsoft and Windows based technologies Demonstrated ability to provide principals of patient family centered care Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose, and Values Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis.
