Job Location Markham, ON Required Skills Java Rest Web Services, Enterprise Application Integration Experience 8‑10 years Salary CA$120,000.00 – CA$130,000.00 Job Description Essential Skills: Java Rest Web Services, Enterprise Application Integration The Software Engineer performs analysis, development and technical governance across both Run and/or Change and will be accountable for maintaining the quality of code and compliance to standards within the platform. Accountability includes analysis, development implementation of change and/or run activity in accordance with the agreed digital platform strategy, standards and governance. Performing governance quality assurance to ensure customer outcomes are delivered to the highest standards. Defining technical specifications of solutions incorporating service fundamentals, security and system performance. Driving continuous improvement through technical and process innovation to optimise delivery to customers. Serving as a subject‑matter expert providing advice, guidance, knowledge sharing and governance in areas of expertise (business process, application and technical configuration). Analyzing user needs and defining technical specifications. Developing existing programs, analyzing and identifying areas for modification. Building security, performance, monitoring and non‑functional requirements within solutions. Managing performance and availability, including system health checks, performance monitoring and disaster recovery planning. Identifying and implementing service improvements, including improvement plans and software upgrades. Governance of new projects and initiatives, assessing impact on systems and applications. Championing process improvements and embedding new ways of working to drive up the quality of deliverables. Promoting and evolving Software Engineering Practice. Proposing innovative solutions or alternative approaches to difficult issues. Managing stakeholder relationships with business and IT SME colleagues. Identifying, owning and managing key risks and IT controls, and maintaining records on iCARE or Archero. Ensuring issues and actions associated to controls and risks are remediated in a timely manner. Maintaining appropriate records on iCARE or Archero. Ensuring controls are well designed and operating effectively to keep risks within Aviva’s tolerance level. Reporting and escalating the status of relevant risks, controls and standards as appropriate. Being accountable for prioritising one’s own use of time to deliver.
