Reporting to and under the direction of the Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Coordinator, and as a member of multidisciplinary health care teams, the Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for the provision of quality patient/client-centered speech-language therapy services. Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle. QUALIFICATIONS: Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Speech Language Practitioner. Master's Degree from an accredited school of Speech Language Pathology. Valid BC Driver's License Skills And Abilities Demonstrate clinical competence congruent with service area-specific needs. Work effectively as part of an multidisciplinary team, with other staff, and with patients/clients, caregivers/families, and other community organizations. Utilize sound judgment, tact and empathy. Demonstrate good observation and assessment skills. Foster and promote good public relations. Problem solve and resolve conflict. Deal with others effectively. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work independently, organize workload and establish priorities. Ability to operate related equipment. Ability to teach and conduct presentations. Physically and emotionally perform the duties of the position. Act as a resource person.
