International students must be attending school full time, possess a valid study permit and may require a valid co‑op work permit when applying for a co‑op position. Please note that international students can only participate in co‑op work terms for up to 50% of their total program of study (example: a 2 year diploma program is limited to two co‑op work terms). Transportation team for a 4‑month Co‑op and Career Path term this summer. This position performs traffic counts, collects other data and field measurements for traffic engineering and transportation planning studies. Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Power BI and Excel would be considered assets, as well as python programming skills. Co‑op and Career Path Term Placement dates are: 4 month – May to August, inclusive 8 month – May to December, inclusive Days of the week: Monday to Friday Hours of work: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (35 hours) Duties Manual traffic counts at road intersections and data processing Mobilization and set‑up of automated count equipment at intersections Traffic analysis using software applications and MS Excel Writing reports and documentation and materials for presentation Preparation for and attendance at public consultation events Field visits, taking measurements and public surveys Working with AutoCAD drawings and GIS maps Results and Activities Enrolled full‑time in a Civil Engineering program. Valid BC Driver’s Licence Class 5. Must be physically able to perform all the duties required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills. Strong data analysis skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of MS Power BI, PowerQuery, ArcGIS and Python integration would be assets. Physical Demands The installation of traffic count equipment requires moving and installing equipment with weights up to 14 kg. Pay Rate $24.27 per hour plus 14% in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.
