Job Summary The Tournament Manager is a key member of our team, responsible for the delivery of Tournaments across North America under the CCT brand. A role that’s entrepreneurial by nature, the position has a focus on sustainable tournament participation growth through a combination of high retention and new customer acquisition. Accountabilities Manages an assigned portfolio of youth hockey tournaments, providing leadership and end-to-end tournament management that achieves registration, financial, and customer experience targets. Demonstrates excellent customer service, driving registrations through a combination of retention and new customer acquisition. Works with the product team and the central marketing team to provide subject matter expertise and insights to further support new customer acquisition campaigns. Takes ownership of event management, including building tournament divisions that promote parity and competition; scheduling that optimizes ice usage and ancillary revenue streams; and an ability to manage tournament expenses in‑line with the annual operating plan. Manages event staff (e.g. conveners) and independent contractors (e.g. referees and timekeepers), to develop staff schedules and ensure the coverage needs of programming is met. Develops into a subject matter expert in the youth hockey industry, developing a robust competitive analysis while identifying market trends, potential threats, and areas of opportunity at Canlan Sports locations or third‑party sports complexes. Works with the product team and marketing team to develop targeted marketing and communication campaigns that are timely, relevant, and amplify the profile of our youth tournaments, leading to additional registrations. Collaborates with the sponsorship team to identify opportunities to work with third‑party organizations, providing insights, analysis, and other information that may be of value in the development of sponsorship agreements. Qualifications And Education Graduation from post‑secondary institution in sport management, business, sport science, or equivalent industry experience is preferred Coaching, officiating, or related sport certificates may be viewed as an asset. Abilities, Attributes And Experience A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity within the sports industry, or related experience. Demonstrated knowledge of CRM platforms, Microsoft Office, and Project Management platforms. Successful work experience in a sales‑focused, customer‑facing capacity, with knowledge of marketing, communication channels, and campaign management. Strong knowledge of league and tournament hockey operations, scheduling and stats platforms, and the ability to work well under pressure. Ability to interpret a rule book and administer decisions in an objective manner. Previous event management experience in any industry would be considered an asset.
