  1. Investigate outbreaks of diseases and food poisoning
  2. Provide information/training to employers, employees and general public
  3. Establish and implement policies and procedures
  4. Train, direct and motivate staff
  5. Collect samples of materials for analysis
  6. Inspect workplaces for safety or health hazards
  7. Investigate workplace accidents or illnesses
  8. Manage training and development strategies
  9. Oversee the analysis of employee data and information
  10. Oversee development of communication strategies
  11. Develop and implement health and safety plans
  12. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
  13. Inspect products and processing methods; prepare reports and ensure that regulations governing health, quality and safety are followed
  14. Oversee the preparation of reports
  15. Advise senior management
  16. Respond to employee questions and complaints
  17. Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations
  18. Conduct performance reviews
  19. Evaluate work environments, programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury
