Senior Cost Controller Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) – part of Aecon. Location Scarborough, Ontario, Canada Salary CA$130,000.00 – CA$150,000.00 What Is The Opportunity? Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rails and Systems (SSE‑SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometres further into Scarborough, extending from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road and replacing Line 3 (the Scarborough RT). This project offers a unique chance to support a major transit initiative that will improve travel times and accessibility for residents throughout the city. What You Will Do Here Prepare Project Controls plans and detailed manpower utilisation plans for discipline or specialty activities. Assist with contract management and payments. Develop or assist in the development of quantity bases for assumptions. Perform or coordinate pricing structure development, applying take‑offs, derived quantities, quantity assumptions and cost allowances within a discipline or specialty. Plan, coordinate and direct the preparation of specific budgets. Assist in developing budgeting standards requirements. Develop and implement forecasting, cost recording, reporting and analysing standards, and reports. Perform performance monitoring and control functions. Assist in developing project codes of accounts, recommending appropriate modifications and revisions. Investigate requirements for estimating and/or cost control data for a specific discipline or specialty applications. Identify or define data sources and techniques for data acquisition, collecting required data for a specific discipline or specialty applications. Responsible for setting up project accounting systems (cost codes, job cost procedures, project credit rules). Ensure all contract conditions (invoicing, reporting, change management, etc.) are applied and fulfilled for project set‑up, tracking and reporting, and closeout. Monitor project performance and ensure that the project control system is properly implemented. Generate all required project status reports for internal management and the customer, including overall project dashboards and performance reports (Earned Value, SPI, CPI, etc.). Perform data analysis, identify problems and make recommendations. Create and implement measurement systems for given processes, analyse performance metrics and identify improvements. What You Bring To The Team 7–10 years minimum of cost control experience in construction. Knowledge of financial reporting systems, controller account codes and an understanding of controller instructions (including Project Financial Status Reports and Earned Revenue Determination Data). Accreditation from AACEI or CIQS is an asset. College and/or university degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Applied knowledge of project management and cost control principles is an asset. Applied knowledge of Earned Value principles is an asset. Ability to produce, read and manipulate schedules and scheduling curves/reports is an asset. P6 experience is an asset. Applied knowledge of cost engineering/cost control is an asset. Experience with Hard Dollar/InEight and SAP ERP systems is an asset. Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Organisational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high‑pressure worksite environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral). Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees. Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge. Detail‑oriented.
