Our client, a not-for-profit organization requires a Senior AP Manager to join their team. The Finance team provides the organization with consistent and accurate financial information on a timely basis to allow stakeholders the ability to make informed decisions and enable the organization to use its financial resources in the most effective way and assure constant cash flo0w. We’re seeking a collaborative, self-disciplined and detail-oriented Senior Manager for Accounts Payable to oversee the Accounts Payable department and the organization’s requirements and to be a champion for internal control and risk mitigation.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, and managing the Accounts Payable processing team, the incumbent will manage the entire accounts payable business cycle, ensure organizational compliance with internal controls and policies, ensure CRA requirements for charitable organizations are met without exception, champion risk mitigation, ensure timely payments to vendors, and maintain accurate financial records and control reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Manager two direct reports and ensure maximization of resources.
  • Coordinate with and provide knowledge to other departments in the organization on payables policies and processes and CRA compliance requirements – and conduct or assist in information training sessions periodically.
  • Analyze payables for cash management opportunities.
  • Manage weekly vendor payment runs (cheques, EFTs, wires) – coordinate payment approval and submission cycle.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant records - ensuring audit-level support for all payments (electronically and/or other media), including purchase order/requisition, invoices and proof of completion.
  • Control on vendor master data.
  • Liaison with vendors; review and reconcile to vendors’ statements.
  • Engage in special projects as necessary – liaising with other departments as required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree.
  • 3+ years’ relevant work experience.
  • Experience in multiple applications/platforms (integrated ERP and applications, expense. reimbursement, bank portal).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to master new ERP and software applications.
  • Experience in not-for-profit sector would be considered an asset.
