Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Director, IT Infrastructure is responsible for the architecture, implementation, operation, administration, and support of the organization's IT infrastructure, including both on-premises and cloud-based environments. This role focuses on delivering a highly responsive, reliable, and performance-driven infrastructure that includes servers, storage, virtual machines, databases, identity & access management (IAM) services, and networking components such as routers, firewalls, and VPNs.

A critical component of this position is ensuring the scalability, security, and automation of infrastructure deployment using DevOps techniques and tools. Additionally, the Director is responsible for ensuring timely patch management, eliminating vulnerabilities, and supporting infrastructure needs across various business units.

The main responsibilities are:

Infrastructure Architecture & Operations:

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure IT infrastructure (on-premises and cloud).
  • Integrate and manage servers, storage, networking, databases, and directory services.
  • Oversee VM and storage deployment, daily operations, and monitoring.
  • Ensure backups, disaster recovery, and optimize performance.

Network, Security & Compliance:

  • Design and maintain networking infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs).
  • Apply security patches, manage firewall rules, and implement security best practices (encryption, MFA).
  • Monitor for security threats, conduct vulnerability scans, and ensure compliance with standards.

DevOps & Automation:

  • Implement DevOps tools and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
  • Automate deployment, configuration, and scaling of infrastructure.
  • Integrate infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines and manage container environments.

Performance Monitoring & Capacity Planning:

  • Implement monitoring solutions for infrastructure performance.
  • Analyze trends, forecast needs, and mitigate performance bottlenecks.
  • Develop reporting and alerting systems.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor infrastructure external engineers and administrators.
  • Set goals, performance metrics, and align strategy with company goals.
  • Manage vendor relationships for value and service.

SKILLS PROFILE AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degree or certifications preferred (e.g., AWS, Azure, Cisco, VMware, CCSP, etc.).
  • 10+ years in IT infrastructure management (server, storage, networking, cloud).
  • Experience with on-premises and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Expertise in virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM) and directory services (Active Directory, LDAP).
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Other qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English and French).
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds).
  • Expertise in networking (routers, firewalls, switches, VPN) and enterprise network architecture.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Skilled in IT security best practices (patch management, vulnerability assessments, incident response).
