You’ve been looking for an opportunity that will give you all of this while also allowing work/life balance. We are looking for a Canfor Pulp Safety Advisor. As a First Responder, you will engage in high‑angle rescue, fire response, first aid calls, incident investigations, emergency response planning and any number of other activities throughout your shift and career. Emergency Response Responsible for all initial Emergency Response at the Canfor Pulp facilities including Fire, First Aid, Rescue and Hazmat. Operate as Incident Command; all ERC related support flows through the Advisor. First point of contact to external supports such as Prince George Fire Department, BCEHS, and RCMP. Periodic inspections, maintenance and inventory of all Emergency Response equipment. Lead the Emergency Response Crew at each site—conduct training, develop plans, ensure proficiency and lead the ERC during an emergency. Evacuation, CSE & Rescue Manage the Evacuation Program—including sign‑in, drills, audits and training. Oversee the Confined Space Entry (CSE) Program; test, audit, train, implement, review and approve CSE entry permits. Develop and implement rescue plans for Confined Space Entry and Fall Protection. Fire Protection Responsible for regulatory Fire Protection inspections (sprinkler, fire OS&Y/Valve, PIV, etc.). Manage the Marsh Impairment Program and online impairment submissions, including Fire Sprinkler, Valve and Alarm inspections. Lead Fire Main Flushing, Hydrant Flushing, capacity testing, Fire Hose testing, Fire Extinguisher inspections, replacement and inventory, Fire Pump Run Ups and monitoring. Administer the Hot Work Program including permits and audits. Report PGFRS (City Fire) Inspection deficiencies and follow up. Safety Respond to all illness and injury incidents; provide medical aid and documentation. Participate in incident investigations with operations, maintenance and other stakeholders. Administer and execute safety initiatives; provide employee training on programs such as AED installations. Conduct periodic safety audits—including Confined Space Entry, dust, fire, hot work, guarding and PPE. Oversee respiratory protection programs and heat stress testing. Gas Monitoring Conduct area gas sweeps, detect gas type, measure levels and assess extent of suspected gas. Complete Gas Incident Reports and share findings with stakeholders. Oversee the Gas Detector Program—training, calibration, testing and employee sign‑outs. Administration Oversee the audiometric program. Conduct sound level testing and area audits. Handle visitor and general inquiries, chemical deliveries, truck scaling, material removal, tool loan program, parking passes, alarm monitoring, OT meals and related tasks. Coordinate and administer Insurance inspections and related programs. The salary range for this position is $69,000.00 – $86,000.00.
