Position Overview We are currently recruiting for a full‑time Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered or eligible to be registered with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC), for our geotechnical engineering group in our Salmon Arm Office. The successful candidate will be part of a multi‑disciplinary team and complete projects in a large range of industries including residential and commercial construction, land development, public and private utilities, mining, forestry and transportation. Project teams typically include a range of professionals, professionals in training, and technologists/technicians. Successful applicants will participate in the provision of engineering services from proposal stage through planning, fieldwork, and commissioning of projects. Major Job Functions Providing accurate and pertinent geotechnical investigation data, analyses/modelling, designs, and reports according to agreed‑upon methods, procedures, and techniques. Working under the mentorship of senior engineers within OEL and our close senior associates and providing supervision and guidance to assigned junior staff. Performing site visits during the design and construction phases (site investigation and field reviews). Providing responsive geotechnical advice to co‑workers on a wide range of projects through collaboration in a multidisciplinary project team. Preparing project proposals. Specific Skills and Knowledge Experienced in slope stability analysis and geotechnical investigation (test pitting and drilling investigations) and design for land and resource development. Well versed with geotechnical modelling software (preferably slope stability and/or pile assessment). A committed and positive attitude along with an obvious client focus and the ability to build a positive rapport with customers. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the business. Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor work with the ability to complete occasional extended field trips is considered an asset (generally 2-3 days at a time and occasionally up to 1 week). Strong technical writing abilities. Education and Experience Registered or eligible for registration with EGBC as a professional engineer (geological or civil).
