Director, Credit Risk Technology Join to apply for the Director, Credit Risk Technology role at Scotiabank. Role As Director, Credit Risk Technology, you will partner with stakeholders in the Corporate and Commercial Credit Risk function and Business Lines to design and deliver innovative solutions. You will contribute to roadmap definition and implement the roadmap. In addition, you will own a portfolio of applications and ensure IT risks are managed effectively on an ongoing basis. Is this role right for you? In this role you will: Collaborate with Corporate Commercial Credit Risk, Commercial Credit Risk, International Banking Credit Risk, business lines, Data Governance, and Technology teams to drive the delivery of a transformation roadmap. Work closely with IT Architecture teams to ensure strong alignment with the bank’s architecture plans and global strategy, including alignment to the bank’s goal to accelerate Cloud adoption. Lead development teams to build and maintain applications. Independently conduct research and analysis to resolve highly complex, multi‑faced problems and design issues arising from projects, partnering with other teams in the Technology organization, applying advanced financial and technological knowledge to data, system and process solutions. Secure consensus and co‑operation from business users and senior management. Document issues, analysis and recommendations succinctly for business decisions. Continually acquire and enhance knowledge of the Bank’s business strategies and policies, risk management practices and methodologies, product offerings, financial markets, financial instruments, regulatory requirements, operational processes, and rapidly changing technology to provide solutions and services to end‑user business lines. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day‑to‑day activities and decisions. Build a high‑performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive workplace, communicating vision, values and strategy, and managing succession and development planning. Collaborate with stakeholders to define ongoing governance processes to ensure data assets meet data quality and compliance requirements. Qualifications 10+ years experience building software solutions in financial institutions, including public cloud, on‑premise and legacy systems. Strong knowledge of the Bank’s Corporate Functions, especially Credit Risk, Corporate and Commercial banking, operational processes & controls. Knowledge in Finance and Corporate Treasury is an asset. Experience directing teams to design and implement modern technology solutions. Strong knowledge of requirements/design methodology – detail oriented, analytical and capable of investigating complex technical issues and proposing alternative solutions. Ability to understand and work in a rapidly changing technology, regulatory and product environment. Manage teams directly/indirectly and work effectively as one team. Strong knowledge of project methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall SDLC, with a proven record of delivering on time and on budget. Excellent communication and presentation skills (both oral and written) with frequent interaction with global Risk Management and other IT groups across the bank. Highly motivated, committed and a great team player capable of working in a dynamic environment with aggressive timelines and multiple work streams running in parallel. Technical knowledge in modern data warehousing solutions, web‑based applications and experience building modern solutions on public cloud such as GCP or Azure.
