Department of Chief Operating OfficerNunavut Tunngavik IncorporatedLocated in Rankin Inlet, NU Under the direction of the COO, the Director – Qiviutaq Secretariat is a senior leader responsible for building and strengthening Nunavut Tunngavik’s partnerships with Inuit organizations identified in Article 5 of the Agreement, stakeholders, institutions of Public Governments, and communities. The Director is the administrative lead for the Qiviutaq Secretariat – an advisory body to Nunavut Tunngavik’s board of Directors. The role supports DIOs in meeting their implementation obligations and ensures that Inuit values and governance guide decisions that promote Inuit self‑determination and well‑being. The director leads engagement strategies, policy alignment, and performance monitoring of distinction‑based programs, working closely with Inuit partners, Qiviutaq, senior NTI leadership and the NTI Board, and governments. Additionally, the Director plays a key role in emergency preparedness and response, coordinating with partners and communities to ensure effective and Inuit‑informed responses to crises. To be invited for an interview; A degree in a relevant field (e.g. Public Administration, Wildlife Management, Indigenous Studies, Business Administration) or equivalencies. Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a leadership role with a focus on relationships with DIOs. Experience in emergency response management is an asset. Knowledge of Indigenous rights and the Nunavut Agreement is an asset. Strong understanding of land use and wildlife management principles and practices, knowledge of financial management processes to carry out responsibilities of administering a budget. Experience in working in a team environment and with diverse perspectives, experience in the development and delivery of programs directed at an Inuit audience. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to make effective presentations with a variety of means and audiences, to work co‑operatively with a variety of individuals and groups, both Government, Inuit Organizations and international agencies. Ability to research, analyze and interpret policy, legislation and regulations. Aware of Nunavut Inuit aspirations. Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Preference will be given to Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement. Starting salary is $157,068.00 per annum (commensurate with experience) a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan, group insurance and vacation travel assistance.
