The City of Kamloops is seeking a highly‑skilled permanent, full‑time Building Official I to join our dedicated Development, Engineering, and Sustainability team. This is an opportunity to have a direct impact on the growth and innovation in Kamloops’ infrastructure. As a Building Official I, you will play a pivotal role in the review and approval of building permits, site inspections, enforcement of BC’s Building and Plumbing Codes, City bylaws and much more This highly‑technical position interacts with and provides professional guidance to many internal departments, developers, owners, contractors and other external agencies. The successful candidate must have the following qualifications: Completion of secondary school or equivalent. Valid BC Driver’s Licence – Class 5. BC Trade Qualification or inter‑provincial carpentry ticket and/or graduation from a recognized building technology course. Must have passed the Building Officials Association of BC Level I examinations. For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included with this position. This is a CUPE local 900 position.
