AVP, Planning and Performance Management

AVP, Planning and Performance Management Zurich Canada is looking for an AVP in Planning and Performance Management who brings a consulting mindset and strategic orientation to financial analysis. In this hybrid role, you will partner with business leaders, build financial models, support decision‑making, and develop insights that influence company strategy. Responsibilities Act as a trusted finance partner and subject‑matter expert on financial performance; prepare and deliver complex financial reports, analysis, and insights, with commentary and recommendations to aid strategic decision‑making. Develop and provide comprehensive financial analysis in support of the business unit and enterprise‑wide initiatives. Generate solutions to complex financial issues, combining a big‑picture view with detailed analytics to deliver actionable insights and ensure alignment between strategic and financial plans. Evaluate the impact of external changes (e.g., regulatory, market) on the business unit and assigned department. Lead and support special projects and business initiatives, including deep dives into specific areas of concern. Help enhance and automate FP&A tools, processes, and management insights capabilities. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree and 7+ years of experience in financial performance and analytics in P&C Insurance OR high‑school diploma and 9+ years of experience in the same area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an associate degree and 7+ years of experience. Knowledge of IFRS 17 accounting standards. Proficiency with Advanced Excel, SAP/BW, planning tools (e.g., Anaplan/Adaptive), and data‑visualization tools (Power BI/Tableau). Strong financial‑modeling experience. Preferred Qualifications Strong analytical skills and the ability to process complex data, identify trends, and ensure accuracy. Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to influence without authority and tell a compelling story with data. Commercial P&C insurance industry experience, including exposure to alternative risk solutions such as captives, programs, or MGAs. 3–5 years of experience in portfolio management, technical underwriting, or a strategic finance/FP&A role. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment with a strong attention to detail. Proven consulting skills, including stakeholder engagement, strategic problem solving, and delivering actionable insights to senior leadership. MBA and/or CPA a plus but not required.
