Description ECC is seeking a Staff Environmental Scientist. This position is located on an active remediation project in Port Hope, Ontario. This office and field position is primarily responsible for helping plan, select, coordinate, and implement scientific and environmental services to fully address the scope of work on environmental remediation and hazardous waste management projects in accordance with Company standards, regulatory criteria, and contractual obligations.

Responsibilities:
  1. Under direct supervision, prepare environmental reports and plans
  2. Analyze environmental/site/material data
  3. Perform cross-disciplinary safety/quality, project controls, procurement and contracts, and estimating duties as assigned
  4. Report to the site and conduct field sampling, construction, engineering, and other miscellaneous field support services
  5. Maintain budget and schedule for assigned tasks
  6. Apply industry standards of practice for selected technology, adhering to regulatory codes, building codes, national/local standards, and company policies and SOPs
  7. As directed, report to the field to perform and/or inspect or observe fieldwork, and review work of personnel, subcontractors and consultants to ensure compliance with approved plans and acceptable tolerances
  8. Complete related documentation (field reports, logs, meeting minutes, online submittal sites), in a timely and accurate manner

In addition to the accountabilities above, other responsibilities, tasks, and deliverables may be assigned to the incumbent of this position.

Requirements:
  1. Apply basic knowledge of general scientific and engineering principles and analytical tools, as directed
  2. Apply education of environmental processes, remediation technologies, design, and construction technologies as directed
  3. Implement Federal and Provincial Environmental Regulations
  4. Communicate effectively by written and verbal means
  5. Perform multiple concurrent tasks and meet timelines, as directed
  6. Work well independently and as a team
  7. Competent in using Microsoft Office products, email systems, and Windows
Education:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Life, Earth or Natural Sciences, Environmental Management, or related field from an accredited institution. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior internship in the field of study preferred
  • Prior experience with Low-Level Radioactive Waste
  • Prior experience with large-scale environmental remediation projects preferred

ECC targeted base salary range for the Toronto, ON area is $50,000 to $70,000 annually. Actual salary offered may be affected by education, training, certifications, experience, skills, level of responsibility, and location.
