We're recruiting for a Customs Compliance Specialist to join our team at a well-established Canadian Customs Brokerage firm. This is a succession role designed to work closely alongside our current Director of Compliance , then to step into the full leadership position upon their retirement.

As our new Customs Compliance Specialist , you will:
Partner closely with the Director of Compliance to ensure our operations meet all regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards.
Step into a supervisory role right away, leading the Compliance department’s administrative staff.
Serve as a subject matter expert in Customs Tariff classification across a variety of industries.
Review and validate tariff classifications, valuation, origin declarations, and overall regulatory compliance.
Communicate directly with clients to clarify customs requirements and provide tailored compliance advice.
Support internal training initiatives, assist with audit preparation, and help document internal procedures.
Collaborate with other departments to strengthen quality assurance and streamline processes.
Bring a team-first mindset, offering support to Senior Raters and cross-functional teams as needed.

We’re looking for someone who is both detail-oriented and forward-thinking , with a passion for customs compliance and a desire to lead.

6+ years of experience as a Customs Analyst, Senior Rater, or in a Customs Compliance role within a customs brokerage environment
~ Clear, professional English communication skills – written and verbal (including formatting and editing)
~ Proficiency in customs brokerage software and IT tools for compliance and reporting
~ Work closely with a seasoned compliance leader in a rare mentorship opportunity
