About the Postdoctoral Program The CNRC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program offers access to world‑class facilities and the opportunity to work alongside interdisciplinary teams of award‑winning researchers and technicians on projects of national importance. Fellows will conduct research and development activities on innovative projects that provide career development opportunities through publications and/or industry interactions. Fellows will work in a laboratory under the supervision of a CNRC researcher. Fellows receive a determined contract offer from the National Research Council of Canada. They get the salary and benefits accorded to research staff. Salary is payable in accordance with the individual's experience. The base salary for new PhDs is approximately $83,985. Fellows will also receive a travel fund to support their work objectives. Project Title Capteurs plasmoniques quantiques Role The CNRC seeks a postdoctoral fellow to lead research‑development work on quantum plasmonic sensors. These sensors have the potential to transform detection capabilities by surpassing conventional limits. The project will exploit strong coupling of quantum emitters and molecular vibrations to plasmonic nanocavities and will probe the modified cavity chemistry under strong electronic or vibrational coupling. The incumbent will conduct cutting‑edge research on the design, fabrication, modeling, and characterization of quantum plasmonic sensors and will access CNRC’s state‑of‑the‑art materials characterization and device fabrication facilities. Studies Doctorate in experimental physics or a related engineering discipline, with an emphasis on strong light‑matter interaction, plasmonics, and quantum photonics, as evidenced by thesis work and publications. Experience Hands‑on experience in optical spectroscopy, including designing and building optical experiments. Experience in the design, modeling, nanofabrication, and characterization of plasmonic devices. Experience in quantum optics and quantum simulation of cavity‑plasmonic QED systems. Language Requirements English Employment Condition Reliability score requirement. Applicants must undergo a five‑year background check. The role is contingent on satisfactory performance in the first year. Eligibility Fellows normally receive a two‑year conditional offer contingent on satisfactory progress during the first year. Applicants must have earned a PhD (or equivalent) within the last three years (or will obtain it within six months of appointment). Fellows will work in a laboratory under the supervision of a CNRC researcher. Exceptions may be considered for personal or family absences.
