You will need exceptional design and analytical skills to plan, design and focus on HVAC, plumbing, and fire sprinkler systems for water and wastewater treatment-related facilities.Typical duties include applying intensive and diversified knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices to technical writing, construction drawing and specification production for submission to clients and jurisdictional plan check; permitting shop drawing review; and responding to requests for information during construction.Responsibilities:Design complete HVAC systems, including package type and central plantsDesign HVAC Controls systems with integration into Building Management Systems and SCADA Systems.Design complete Plumbing systems, including utility and potable distribution systems, drainage systems, and miscellaneous systems such as compressed air and natural gasDesign fire protection systems using a performance system approachPerform calculations for HVAC loads, duct and pipe sizing, life-cycle costs, and energy analysesPrepare calculations for plumbing systems, including water and drainage flows, water heater sizing and pump sizing and selectionPrepare detailed design drawings and specificationsPrepare Basis of Design reports and Technical MemorandumsSelect equipment, vendor coordination, and edit specificationsConduct field evaluations and develop as-built drawingsManage and coordinate work with engineers and technicians of other disciplines and architectsLead meetings and communicate with clients, vendors, and other project stakeholders to establish project needs and discuss design issuesManage quality and schedule of work and interface with clientsManage project budgets, including estimating efforts to completeSupport field staff during construction phase of projects, including responding to submittal reviews and requests for informationRequirements:Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or other related degree15+ years experience in producing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs and providing services during construction for design-build projectsActive Professional Engineer (P.Eng) licenseIdeally, You'll Also Have:Construction site experience, including history of working in a corporate engineering environmentExperience in preparing basis of design reports, detailed design drawings and specifications.Proficiency with building load calculations software using Carrier HAP or Trane Trace software.Working knowledge of applicable building codes and standards including ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, CSA, IBC, IECC, etc.Experience preparing technical specifications and reports.Strong analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills.Ability to effectively interface and communication with project team members, management, and clients.Ability to effectively manage project workload, budgets, schedules and an ability to work with, lead, and mentor junior engineers.A strong sense of being self-motivated and an ability to work productively without supervision.Certification in a recognized sustainability rating system (LEED, Passive House, etc.)Recent project experience in delivering projects for Metro Vancouver and/or Toronto WaterA demonstrated ability to lead teams of designers and engineersJacobs is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from diverse candidates. #J-18808-Ljbffr
