Summary of the Role

As a member of the ANDRITZ Hydro Mechanical Design Team Turbine, located in Pointe-Claire, the selected candidate will participate in the mechanical design of new & refurbish Francis, Kaplan, and propeller turbine units. Responsibilities include:

  1. Preparing 3D models and 2D drawings from references, sketches, or based on instructions from engineers or senior designers
  2. Creating drawing-associated material lists
  3. Reviewing drawings and material lists to check for errors and compliance with customer specifications and internal design standards
  4. Ensuring designs can be manufactured, are transportable, and operational
  5. Proposing design improvements to reduce cost and improve quality as needed
  6. Participating in continuous improvement activities
  7. Performing drawings revision and entering data into the material resource planning system (SAP)
  8. Being responsible for the execution time, quality, and precision of work
  9. Participating in schedule updates

  • College Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Good knowledge of heavy mechanical equipment, welded structures, manufacturing methods, machining, and drafting rules and practices
  • Strong background in 3D design
  • Autonomous with teamwork skills
  • Fluency in French & English
  • Knowledge of Unigraphics NX8, Teamcenter, and SAP is an asset
  • Knowledge of hydro turbine (turbine and generator) is an asset
