During a typical workday, YOU will perform the following tasks:

  • Integration of various systems related to the installation and operation of generators.
  • Engineering, design and layout, according to specification requirements and current standards
  • Design support structures, base frames, and related components
  • Calculate and design P&IDs. Calculation for sizing components (eg pumps, valves, radiator) piping pressure loss for generator operation
  • Diagnose and resolve design-related problems in the production shop and on site
  • Provide technical assistance to sales and service personnel to investigate and resolve application problems
  • Answer and resolve customers' technical queries on projects
  • Write manufacturing instructions for the production shop
  • Work in teams with draftsmen to prepare drawings and project documents

Skills required for this position:

  • University degree in mechanical engineering and 5+ years professional experience
  • Member of the PEO or PEO eligible
  • Drawing experience with Inventor & AutoCAD
  • General knowledge of mechanical machine components: pulleys, gears, pumps, ventilation, etc.
  • Exposure to projects involving diesel engines in marine, railway, mining or military industries (an asset)
  • Knowledge of basic electrical concepts (an asset)
  • Knowledge of acoustics and vibration (an asset)
  • Knowledge of Ontario building codes and fuel installation standards (an asset)
