Senior Financial Analyst, GWAM Operations Expenses

Overview Reporting to the Director, GWAM Operations Expenses, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for the financial activities pertaining to the support of Global Wealth and Asset Management. Specifically, the candidate will drive the development, implementation and maintenance of monthly financials, efficiency metric analysis, reporting, planning and forecasting with a focus on the Operations function. Working closely with the expense shared service team and collaborating with the functional business partners, the candidate will provide streamlined support and thoughtful analysis to both functional leaders and the segment expense teams and will possess the ability to work with people at all levels of the organization. Responsibilities Perform financial and business reviews to functional leaders and stakeholders according to the shared service model. Ensure quality of data and oversee the development of reporting which meets the needs of our customers. Provide valuable analysis along with clear and concise commentary on results for our customers. Develop a strong technical understanding of the accounting for expenses including company policies and business knowledge to be able to verify and analyze information under review. Build your leadership and make recommendations around enhancements to closed loop reporting and impact of financial benefits on results. Provide support to various markets (US, Canada, Asia, and GA) as required. Use appropriate judgment in dealing with unexpected issues and requests, demonstrating an ability to prioritize work, and balance resource requirements to achieve solutions. Play a key role as part of the Expense Management team in the achievement of projects, the goals of process improvement and best practices in expense reporting. Identify expense risk and opportunities and recommend and influence actions for functional business partners. Drive discussions and analysis pertaining to Strategic Cost Management to ensure results have one source of the truth from Finance. Participate in cultivating an innovative environment by demonstrating creativity and high-performance teamwork. Find opportunities to collaborate across teams to innovate and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Model and encourage collaborative team behaviours (Get it done together, Share your humanity). Expand personal network and relationships within the business area supported and the finance teams and demonstrate you have leveraged these expanded partnerships in delivering business results. Help drive continuous improvement in engagement throughout the organization. Required Qualifications University degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent, with a Master’s in Finance or MBA preferred; CPA or advanced degree highly desirable More than 3 years of experience in progressive accounting roles, demonstrating the ability to collaborate across functions. Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration, negotiation, and influence. Self-starter with independent judgment, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Proficient in managing expectations, meeting tight deadlines, and handling competing priorities. Excellent customer focus with a commitment to quality and strong business sense for clear communication of complex concepts. Proficient in Microsoft Office, with an interest in quickly learning new applications. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of complex GL package (Lawson, Essbase, Anaplan) would be an asset Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec. Referenced Salary Location Toronto, Ontario Working Arrangement Hybrid Salary range is expected to be between $73,725.00 CAD - $122,875.00 CAD If you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location.
