Spanning over 7,000 square kilometres across diverse rural and urban communities in southeastern Ontario, KPR serves the Municipalities of Clarington, Northumberland, Peterborough Counties, and City of Quinte West/Murray Ward. The Board sits on the traditional territory of the Michi Saagiig Anishinaabeg people, serving three vibrant Indigenous communities: Alderville First Nation, Curve Lake First Nation and Hiawatha First Nation. Today, the district is home to many First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples and we acknowledge their contributions across Turtle Island. The Role Of Superintendent Of Education At KPR The Superintendent of Education is a key member of the senior leadership team, entrusted with overseeing a Family of Schools, an assigned departmental portfolio, and ensuring the effective implementation of educational programmes, policies, and initiatives. Reporting directly to the Director of Education, the superintendent plays a pivotal role in both administrative and educational leadership, responsive to the diverse needs of the entire school community. Responsibilities Lead with integrity while providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight to school leadership for a specific Family of Schools. Ensure effective implementation of the Ministry of Education, KPR strategic plan, and school board policies. Champion the integration of Indigenous Education into daily practices, advancing Truth and Reconciliation efforts. Drive school improvement and systemic change to reduce disproportionate outcomes, especially for underserved student groups. Maintain strong engagement with Trustees and support governance responsive to the diverse community. Oversee assigned portfolios within the board's structure and ensure holistic approaches are applied across programmes to support student success. Qualifications And Ideal Candidate Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers. Holder of a Supervisory Officer’s Certificate or current enrollee with completion by December 31, 2026. Five (5) years of demonstrated successful leadership as a principal. Clear commitment to and demonstration of KPR’s values and strategic direction. Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous communities and a strong commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. Leadership experience addressing complex equity issues and eliminating systemic barriers, racism, and oppression. Strong political acumen and understanding of elected trustees’ governance role. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, fostering respectful collaborations. Deep expertise in instructional leadership focused on student success and educational excellence. Proven ability to engage diverse voices and build trust within the organization and broader community. Strategic, innovative thinker with strong problem‑solving and judgment skills, fostering a collaborative leadership style.
