Collaborating closely with company leadership and the production team, the Director of Operations will play a vital role as a proactive, on-site leader focused on people leadership, driving continuous improvement and supporting the company's growth. They will prioritize both financial stability and operational effectiveness. ResponsibilitiesOversee site production operations, project timelines, scheduling and employee productivity Foster and nurture a highly inclusive team culture centered around safety, accountability and teamworkLead safety initiatives by implementing the safety program and monitoring the safety performance of team members and subcontractorsProvide effective people leadership by cultivating strong relationships with team members, subcontractors, and customers to boost moraleTake primary responsibility for people leadership, site production, project delivery, and supporting and coaching production supervisors, emphasizing safety and employee developmentSupport construction and project coordinator teams to develop and drive the construction schedule ensuring that completion dates and milestones are metStrategically lead, manage, and coordinate team members from different departments to ensure efficiency and to create a team based and cohesive environmentBuild and steward trust with a broad network of professional colleagues, subcontractors and team members to achieve pride in teamwork and outstanding project deliveryApply financial management experience to plan, manage and respect project budgets, costs and associated purchasingShare your knowledge and be a role model through mentorship opportunities with project team membersEffectively apply the requirements of the project specific safety standards to promote HS&E standards, applicable OH&S acts, regulations and codes Evaluate current processes and introduce improved policies and technologies to enhance business performanceEngage in day travel to various locations within Greater Toronto area as requiredQualifications & AttributesUniversity Degree/Technology Diploma in Construction / Building Renovation, or a combination of education and industry experienceTrack record of success in both Project Management and Site Management rolesDemonstrated progressive experience in construction, preferably low-rise new constructionDirect field supervision of Operations Managers and foreman of large low-rise projects; installation experience is a plusCompetence in safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality, and administrationSound knowledge of construction and building techniques and ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specificationsStrong knowledge of project methodologies, financial management, as well as building codes and associated legislationExcellent conflict resolution skillsExcellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office including MS ProjectAny additional language skills would be considered an assetAbility to successfully navigate high intensity environments with adaptability, resilience and decisive actionHigh level of integrity, strong interpersonal skills combined with the ability to build consensus amongst team members, while instilling a strong emphasis on responsibility and accountabilityLead by example; inspiring others to bring their best, building trust and rapport with all levels of an organizationExcel at strategic thinking, be open to new perspectives and better ways to do things; a creative visionary with the ability to manage innovation wellAn advanced analytical mindset coupled with a high level of business processes and financial acumen to drive daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting Operational excellence – ability to assess, review and implement operational processes and procedures to ensure consistency and improvement amongst business unitsAbility to wear multiple hats and can both analyze and act with equal ease, pragmatism, and strong ability to multitaskResults-driven, with a track record of delivering resultsExcellent business and budget planning skillsA strong ‘change agent’ who can develop and improve overall culture of the business Proficient in risk management and oversight of potential issues, implementing early mitigationAbility to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client, project and technical issues to bring the project to successful completionPragmatic approach to complex scenariosWe thank all interested parties but only those selected will be contacted to move forward.
