Senior Tunnel Engineer / Project Manager Join Mott MacDonald as a Senior Tunnel Engineer / Project Manager supporting our Toronto tunnels team. You will collaborate with geotechnical and structural engineers on local, national, and global projects. Responsibilities Develop design solutions and associated deliverables drawing on deep knowledge of geotechnical and structural skills, including tunnel, shaft, support of excavation, and underground structure design. Provide technical guidance and leadership in the development of technical solutions for underground projects, particularly in water / wastewater and transit markets. Perform constructability and biddability reviews. Deliver packages of design work, including reports and specifications. Lead matters of underground engineering practice, including codes, standards, calculations, and construction drawings. Manage design packages or projects, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, quality control, and management of inputs from team members. Liaise with the client, attend progress meetings, and produce progress reports. Advance the team’s capability by delivering technical excellence and digital innovation. Support business development efforts and proposal delivery. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering (Master’s degree an asset). At least 10 years of relevant experience in structural/geotechnical design and construction for tunnels, shafts, and underground structures. Preferred experience with water / wastewater projects in the GTHA and tunnel design / project management. P.Eng designation in Ontario required (or ability to obtain within short period). Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with all levels of staff and clients and nurture junior staff. Advanced knowledge of innovative underground structure solutions using current design standards and guidelines. Familiarity with numerical analysis software (geotechnical/structural). Enthusiasm for supervising the work of others, including check and approval of key deliverables.
